Tutorial: Hands-on Edge Orchestration – Learn Techniques Used by Big Industry to Deploy at Scale - Kathy Giori & Mikhail Malyshev, ZEDEDA

After the success of the cloud, big industries have begun to tackle digital transformation at the edge. The goal is to save cost and improve scale. But applying cloud-native techniques at the edge hasn’t been easy. The edge lacks physical security, it's more vulnerable to cyberattacks, and connectivity is often poor and inconsistent. The cloud has many providers and is mature. The edge is a fractured landscape of embedded Linux distros and Windows versions. “Managed” edge solutions often involve proprietary software which means businesses are at the mercy of vendors to resolve security breaches or to add functionality. This workshop will provide hands-on training that mimics how big companies are leveraging cloud-native apps at the edge. One secret is to use the LF Edge EVE OS. It was designed from the ground up with security by design and combines best-of-breed FOSS with a cloud-native application framework. The open EVE API (over TLS) maximizes edge security. Go home understanding how to prevent cyberattacks, how to cope with unsecured or flaky networks, and how to deploy at scale. Implement efficient and secure edge orchestration at your own company and become a hero!
