Cedric Thienot will present a new project called “Open Private 5G Network” launched this summer. The project gathers industrial players, hardware vendors, system integrators and software companies willing to speed up the adoption of open source software in Private 5G networks. The project's main activity is to collect and to prioritize 5G requirements from actual industrial players and to share them with the open source communities especially the Linux Networking Foundation and the OpenAirInterface. The project’s members are committed to contribute to the open source community. The ultimate objective of the project is to see the emergence of Private 5G solutions entirely based on open source incl. all the essential components of such a system including the CORE software, O-RAN compliant RAN, cloud-native orchestration and network monitoring. During this session, we will share the initial architecture and use cases defined by the group for the first fully open source pilot built on the manufacturing line of a major European car manufacturer. Any company is welcomed to join the project by applying here: https://firecell.io/join-oai-private-5g-project/.
